Ram TRX 0-60: The Confirmed Time and Why the 2027 Has None Yet

The 2021-2024 Ram TRX does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, which is remarkable for a 702 hp truck that tows 8,100 lb. The 2027 SRT TRX has more power and no published time at all, and that distinction matters more than the guesses filling the gap.

The 2021-2024 Ram 1500 TRX runs 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. That number is verified, it is the figure most commonly cited from factory and outlet testing of the truck, and it has not changed across the four model years the truck was built. The 2027 SRT TRX, despite carrying more power, has no published 0-60 time at all as of this writing, and anyone quoting you one is guessing.

Those two facts are not in tension. One truck has a number because it has been tested and reported. The other does not, because it has not been, and a bigger horsepower figure does not let you back into a lap time on your own.

The 4.5 second number, and what it is actually attached to

The 2021-2024 Ram 1500 TRX pairs the 6.2L supercharged HEMI V8, rated at 702 hp and 650 lb-ft, with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic. That combination gets a 6,300-plus pound four-door truck to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

Put that next to the rest of the spec sheet and the number gets more interesting, not less. This is a truck rated to tow 8,100 lb and carry 1,310 lb of payload. It rides on a fully boxed frame, coil-sprung solid rear axle, and long-travel bypass shocks (external-reservoir dampers designed to soak up high-speed desert impacts, not just smooth pavement). None of that is sports-car hardware. A 4.5 second truck that also tows a decent-size trailer and carries a full bed of gear is unusual specifically because those two jobs normally pull a vehicle's design in opposite directions: quick acceleration wants low weight and short gearing, towing and payload want strength and stiffness that add mass. The TRX does both by brute-forcing the problem with power and a supercharger, not by being light.

Why there is no 0-60 number for the 2027 SRT TRX yet

The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX uses the same 6.2L supercharged HEMI, tuned to 777 hp and 680 lb-ft, a jump of 75 hp and 30 lb-ft over the outgoing truck. Production started in August 2026 at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, the same plant that built the 2021-2024 truck, and it marks the relaunch of the SRT performance division. As of this writing, no manufacturer figure and no independently tested 0-60 time has been published for it.

That gap will get filled by guesses before it gets filled by data, so it is worth saying plainly: more horsepower does not translate directly into a faster 0-60 time on a heavy 4x4, and doing that math yourself will mislead you. A few reasons why.

  • Traction, not power, is usually what limits a launch in this class. A 702-777 hp truck on all-terrain tires has more power than its tire contact patch can put down cleanly at low speed. The limiting factor off the line is how much of that power the tires and the all-wheel-drive system can actually transfer to the pavement before wheelspin eats the advantage.
  • Weight moved between generations, and weight is not free. Any change in curb weight, whether from equipment, structure, or the 4x4 hardware itself, shifts the power-to-weight ratio in ways a horsepower number alone does not capture.
  • Gearing and calibration matter as much as peak output. The TorqueFlite 8-speed's shift points, the transfer case's launch behavior, and how the electronic stability and traction control systems are tuned to allow (or limit) wheelspin off the line all move the result independently of how much power the engine makes.
  • Launch strategy is a variable, not a constant. How the vehicle is launched (foot-brake versus a factory launch mode, if one exists on this truck) can change a 0-60 result by real, repeatable margins on the same vehicle with the same driver.

Put those together and a horsepower delta of 75 hp tells you the 2027 truck should be quicker, but it does not tell you by how much, or whether the number even beats 4.5 seconds once traction and weight are accounted for. Why a published 0-60 time is not the same as your real-world time

Even the verified 4.5 second figure for the 2021-2024 TRX comes from a specific procedure: a prepared, dry, flat surface, a specific tire and fuel state, and (typically) a rollout allowance built into the timing method, the small head start that removes the first few inches of movement from the clock. Change the surface to a cold public road, change the tire tread from fresh to worn, add a passenger and a bed full of gear, and the number moves. It always does, on every vehicle every publication tests.

That is not a knock on the number. It is why manufacturer and outlet 0-60 times exist as a standardized point of comparison between vehicles tested the same way, not as a promise of what your specific truck will do in your driveway on a given morning. We are not going to hand you a "real-world" figure to replace it, because we do not have one worth printing. Anyone who gives you a precise real-world number without describing the conditions it came from is not being careful with you.
